Carl Pini: Music Director |
Carl Pini will be our Music Director again and as always he will be accompanied by a range of dedicated and talented tutors. This year we will have some new faces in Charlotte Armstrong (violin), Lauren Davis (violin), David Campbell (double bass) and Kate Golla (piano) as well as many of our well-known regulars. Select the Tutor tab above for more details about the teachers coming in 2007
All our chamber music concerts will held at Joyes Hall next year, except for the Wednesday night when we have something special planned down near the river as part of our 20th year celebration. We will again have a new string work written for the the Summer School participants to premiere at the final concert in the Civic Theatre on Saturday 13th January. This year it will be by Wendy Hiscocks and will combine visuals with the sounds of the Charles Sturt Orchestra.
The School caters for players of violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar of all ages, from six to eighty, and offers a range of string playing activities to cater for varying interests and abilities. A limited number of instruments will be available for hire at a reasonable rate.
For older students and adults, a moderately high standard of playing is desirable. A formal qualification however, is not necessary. Short informal auditions will be held upon arrival at the School in order to ascertain skills in sight reading and playing from memory as well as general musicianship skills so as to facilitate placement in one of the two string orchestras.
An outstanding feature of the School is the program of public evening concerts which take place almost every night during the week of the school. Full details about the program for 2007 will soon be posted under Concerts in the index above.
